Faux GPS - Explained


내 아이팟 터치 Google Map 어플리케이션에는 '내 위치 보기' 버튼이 있다.
이놈을 누르면 내 현재 위치를 꽤나 정확하게 찾아준다.
 
GPS도 안달린 놈이... 어떻게 찾을까.
Faux GPS 라고, 들어는 봤지만 정확한 동작방식을 모르겠다.

궁굼한 차에 오늘 다시 찾아봤다.

iPhone Faux-GPS Hack Works and is Awesome

Some people with a GPS device collect the location information of cell towers and wifi access points. Then they share it with the rest of the network and everyone else who doesn't have a GPS device can then simulate a Virtual GPS thanks to the data collected by others.
This is why we call it Peer to Peer Positioning.

그런데,
저렇게 모아진 데이터는 공개 안하나?

보아하니 Navizon 이 갖고 있는 기술인거 같은데, Google Map API 에서도 기능 제공하면 참 좋겟다.
